In South Africa during the BRICS Summit 2023, there was a notable moment when Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and President of China Xi Jinping were spotted walking together and having a brief talk. This happened on Thursday. During their time at the BRICS Summit, PM Modi and President Xi had a sincere and thorough discussion about the current relationship between India and China, as well as other topics they both care about. The leaders of Beijing mentioned that improving the relationship between China and India is important for both countries and for global peace and development.
President Xi emphasized that it’s crucial for China and India to work together to make their relationship better, while also properly addressing any issues along their shared border to maintain peace in that region.
This friendly interaction between PM Modi and President Xi took place during the BRICS Summit in South Africa. In this brief meeting, PM Modi expressed India’s concerns about certain unresolved matters along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which is the border area between India and China. This information was shared by India’s Foreign Secretary, Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
Interestingly, this meeting occurred just before the upcoming G20 summit, which will be hosted in New Delhi. This isn’t the first time PM Modi and President Xi have had a casual talk like this. They had a similar interaction back in November 2022 during the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. During that exchange, they discussed the importance of stabilizing their relationship after the tense situation in Galwan in 2020.
The leaders are having friendly chats to make their countries get along better and to keep things calm near the border.
