India vs. Bangladesh Highlights:

While India and Sri Lanka were already geared up to play the Asia Cup 2023 final at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, the last Super 4 match between India and Bangladesh on September 15th added an interesting twist to the tournament.

Despite winning the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to field first against Bangladesh. Indian fast bowlers had the Bangladeshi batsmen on the back foot right from the beginning, and they quickly lost their wickets.

However, Bangladesh managed to put up a challenging total of 265 runs against India, thanks to a crucial partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Touhid Hridoy. Shakib Al Hasan scored 80 runs off 85 balls, while Touhid Hridoy contributed 54 runs off 81 balls. Another notable contribution came from Nasum Ahmed, who scored 44 runs. By the end of their innings, Bangladesh had set a target of 266 runs for India in 50 overs.

For India, Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets, Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets, and famous bowlers like Krishna, Akshar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each.

India needed to maintain a run rate of 5.4 RPO (Runs Per Over) to chase down the target of 266 runs set by Bangladesh.

Right from the beginning of their innings, Indian batsmen faced a tough challenge from Bangladeshi bowlers. India lost their early wickets to the pace of Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, and Shakib Al Hasan, who made sure that Indian batsmen couldn’t score freely. Despite that, Shubman Gill (121) held his ground and scored his 5th ODI century. However, his wicket brought an end to India’s hopes of winning the match.

Although Akshar Patel (42*) tried his best, Mustafizur Rahman dismissed him. In the last over, Indian batsmen succumbed to the pressure, losing wickets and eventually losing the match by 6 runs.
