The wrestler had been battling an undisclosed health issue and was away from the ring since February, but his family suddenly announced his demise.

The news of this was announced by WWE Content Officer Triple H, who posted on social media that Wyatt, whose real name is Windham Rotunda, had “unexpectedly passed away.”

Paying tribute to the star, Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, was among those who expressed their condolences.

On Twitter, Johnson expressed that he was “heartbroken” and had “always had incredible respect and love” for the wrestler. He wrote, “His presence, promos, in-ring work, and connection with the @WWE Universe was something we all loved.” “A very special, unique, and rare character, which is hard to create in our crazy wrestling world.”

Commentator Mick Foley mentioned, “I’ve thought a lot about Bray Wyatt… he was a true visionary; one of the most captivating presences in wrestling I’ve seen, period.”

Wyatt came from a family of wrestlers, including his grandfather Blackjack Mulligan, his father Mike Rotunda, and his younger brother Bo Dallas.

In his wrestling persona, he portrayed the leader of a villainous faction known as The Wyatt Family, alongside members like Erick Rowan, Braun Strowman, and the late Luke Harper (aka Brodie Lee).

After being released from WWE in 2021, he made a long-anticipated return at the Pay-Per-View Extreme Rules event in October, where he presented a new version of his character.

According to wrestling news, he had been away from WWE for several months d

ue to illness, but he was close to making a return before his passing.

Last year, Wyatt commented on his mental health struggles, saying, “I’ve lost a lot. I lost my career, I lost two people who were very close to me, and I lost my way.” He mentioned reaching a point where he felt that everything he had done was futile.

He wrote, “Just got a message from the WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, who informed us of the sad news that our lifelong member of the WWE family Windham Rotunda – known to the world as Bray Wyatt – has passed away today.”

“Our thoughts are with his family, and we want everyone to respect their privacy during this time.”

Wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp later stated that the 36-year-old wrestler’s death was caused by a heart issue, which was exacerbated by his existing heart conditions after his struggle with COVID-19.

He said, “There had been a lot of positive progress in terms of his return and recovery.” “Unfortunately, today he suffered a heart issue and passed away.”

In Wyatt’s family, he is survived by his wife and former WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman, his four children, his brother Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda), and his sister Mika.
