In a bid to foster a culture of accountability and transparency in consumer transactions, the Central Government is gearing up to launch the innovative ‘My Bill, My Right’ incentive program on September 1, 2023. This collaborative effort with state governments aims to encourage customers to actively request receipts and bills for their purchases, with an emphasis on authentic GST (Goods and Services Tax) invoices.

At its heart, the ‘My Bill, My Right’ initiative seeks to kickstart a nationwide movement that promotes the practice of demanding accurate invoices and receipts for every purchase made. This program is set to inspire citizens and consumers to take charge of their financial transactions and contribute to a more transparent economy.

The pilot phase of this initiative will initially take flight in states like Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, and Union Territories like Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu. Over the course of 12 months, this pilot project will lay the groundwork for the program’s full-fledged implementation.

Attractive cash rewards await participants who choose to embrace this endeavor. By simply uploading their GST invoice receipts, individuals stand a chance to win cash rewards ranging from INR 10,000 to a staggering 1 crore. For entry into the lucky draw, a minimum purchase amount of INR 200 will be considered. Each individual can upload up to 25 invoices per month, beginning September 1st. The winning invoices will be selected through a randomized lucky draw process at regular intervals.

The scope of the ‘My Bill, My Right’ initiative is broad and inclusive. It covers invoices issued by all GST registered suppliers, giving consumers a unique opportunity to actively engage in the program. This not only empowers consumers but also establishes a symbiotic relationship between buyers and sellers, founded on trust and accountability.

The impending launch of ‘My Bill, My Right’ on September 1st heralds a significant milestone in India’s journey towards a more transparent and accountable economy. This forward-thinking initiative serves as a crucial step in nurturing a responsible consumer culture, one that places a premium on requesting, retaining, and managing accurate transaction records. As citizens across the nation embrace this program, they pave the way for a brighter economic future built on transparency, trust, and mutual respect.
